18, 2009. Monthly Update by Marvin Abad. Hello! My name is
Marvin and I am one of the newest members of the Amigos staff here
in Chinandega. I’m 23 years old and a civil engineering student.
Right now, I am supervising the construction of the new school in
the community of El Chonco. With Amigos I have been getting more
experience in my profession and learning how to work with all kinds
of people. Since I started, I have met so many nice and interesting
people in the community, from the U.S. mission groups, and the
other employees here in Nicaragua. I have been enjoying myself and
see a lot of opportunity for me to thrive professionally and
personally with Amigos. Above all, I have found God in the hearts
of the people we are serving, the company of my friends, and in the
love that each mission group brings.
July 10,
2009. Monthly Update by Maestro. This week has been very
exciting for all of us here in Nicaragua since we began building
new houses in Villa Catalina. With help from the
Atlanta General Group and the recipient
families of the houses, we broke ground on Monday in Villa. We are
planning on building 50 new houses over the next 6 months. The
families that will receive the houses are comprised of families in
Villa that have outgrown their current homes, people from the
surrounding communities, and families from El Limonal. We are
looking forward to getting to know all the new community members
and welcoming them to Villa Catalina.

May 4, 2009. Monthly Update by Iris. The past couple weeks
have been great, and my days vary between two different extremes,
being outside in Villa Catalina with the teens and kids, to sitting
in the office reading, writing, and planning. I have been planning
the summer devotionals for our mission teams as well as the
devotionals for our employees and a spiritual discipline class we
have been doing in Villa. Everything has been great and it is such
a blessing to be with the kids and teens at Villa - here we all are
giving one of the Young Life girls a big group hug!

April 27, 2009. Monthly Update by Bernardo. The past two
weeks, I have been working in Villa Catalina building the picnic
tables for the feeding centers in Los Rotarios and Villa Catalina.
We've had a lot of success and it's great to see the kids eating
their meals at the tables. I've gotten to work with the groups and
everyone is so friendly with us. A lot of them have been very kind
and even shared with us about the word of God. My goal for the next
month is to finish all the feeding center furniture and to work on
Jeremy and Kristin's new house.

April 27, 2009. Update by Alvaro. Lately I have been
continuing with my daily tasks of making sure the children who
attend school are given lunch and at the same time managing the
bodega here in Villa Catalina. But the best part of it all is when
the groups come. Its such a wonderful experience seeing how excited
they are to help. I enjoy and I always want to improve things here
with my work, and most of all I enjoy the relationships I have with
the other workers and the groups.
March 6 2009. Update by Rider Ney. These past two weeks I´ve
been bending bars and building a new house for a family in Villa

March 6 2009. Update by Maestro. What have I been up to? Let
me tell everyone that besides drinking a nice cold Coca - Cola
during my lunch breaks I´ve been helping in the construction of the
Sutton´s Casa (soon to be newlyweds) this past month. And this past
week I´ve been between 2 new projects such as painting the new
Community center in Villa Catalina and building a new home there as
well for the lucky couple of Mariluz and Arlen.
