August 17th,
2009 Monthly Update by Kristin Hola, Amigos! It has been quite
a summer so far and we are looking forward to reuniting with all of
the groups at our
Celebrate Service Festival in September! We
have been hard at work planning an awesome weekend to share with
our friends at home and with the incredible groups that have spend
time with us down here. I can't wait to see it all come together.
It has been really amazing to see how each different group of
people who has spent a week here is so uniquely different and
brings such a different flavor to our house and to the mission!
July 14th, 2009 Monthly Update by Kelly
"We are
having the time of our lives with the groups! Each week has proved
to be different and full of life. After working their tails off all
day, the groups come home to "relax" and are greeted by wild
characters like Joni and Kimmie (Jazzercizers with a mission to
jazz all through Central America). Each night is filled with a
different (and usually ridiculous) activity, and it keeps all of us
laughing. It blesses my heart to spend time with people who are
willing to give up a week of their vacation to serve!

May 5, 2009. Monthly update by Rossanna Hola!! Hey just want
to let you guys know what I´ve been up to these past weeks. From
digging trenches in Chacraseca to painting the health clinic at
Santa Matilde it´s been very interesting how all the activities I
do are for the same cause... and this is not just me but all the
missionaries at the Amigos house. I´m really happy to be part of
it. Love ya´ll and hope you enjoy our NING site!! Hasta pronto!!
March 20,
2009. Monthly Update by Benito: The work that I have been doing
these past couple weeks is bringing Patricia to the market, the
grocery store and helping her out with other chores. I am grateful
that I am now working for Amigos because I am able to spend more
time with the other people that work here. I like being able to
work with the group when I am driving them to the work site.
Helping to paint the church was different work that I am used to,
but I am glad I was able to participate in that way with the group.
Another part of my job is going to Managua. I make about 2 or 3
trips a week to the airport to pick up travelers or to Pricemart to
help Patricia with buying food and things for the house.

March 13, 2009. Monthly Update by Patricia 'Mama': This week
was similar to my other work weeks. I went to the market and the
grocery store with Benito to buy food for the group’s meals. My
favorite thing to cook is grilled meat because Chris and I do it
together and I enjoy that. I like working to keep the groups happy
and calm. When the group is happy because of something that I have
done for them, I am happy. Maintaining a happy house for the groups
where they are comfortable and enjoying their stay is what I really
enjoy about my job.
March 6,
2009. Monthly Update by Madeline Baay: This past week Casa
Blanca was filled with an animated group of North Carolinians. This
group came in with a strong headed ambition to succeed. And succeed
they did, by coming closer to finishing the construction of a house
in Villa Catalina than any had expected. Laying block, mixing
cement and shoveling sand became second nature to this group who
jumped at every opportunity to help out with various tasks. Their
enthusiasm was contagious to everyone working around them and
especially to the family who will be moving into the new house in
upcoming weeks. This new addition to the Villa community will be
home to a family which consists of mom Mari Luz, dad Arlen and
their little girl Kelling (Mari Luz and Kelling shown in picture).
Having outgrown their old house which they shared with Mari Luz’s
family, this new home is a blessing made possible by the fund
raising efforts of the North Carolina group. Thank you to all that
were involved in the building of this home!
